Microsoft has announced the next big step for Copilot in Microsoft 365: Vibe Working, powered by Agent Mode and Office Agent.
If vibe coding transformed the way developers build software, vibe working is set to reshape how everyday tasks in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint get done. Instead of Copilot just assisting with a single step, these new agents orchestrate multi-step tasks, check their own work, and deliver polished, ready-to-use outputs - while you stay in control.

Agent Mode in Microsoft 365 Copilot 💡
Agent Mode is rolling out first in Excel and Word (with PowerPoint on the way), and it’s designed to feel like working alongside an expert.
Excel: Smarter Analysis Without the Headaches 📊
Excel is powerful - but often intimidating for non-experts. Agent Mode “speaks Excel” fluently, choosing the right formulas, creating visualisations, and even double-checking results before handing them back to you.
Examples you can try:
Financial Analysis: “Create a monthly close report for a bike shop, including product line breakdowns, sequential growth, and year-over-year comparisons.”
Loan Calculator: “Build a calculator that shows monthly payments and a repayment schedule for a custom loan.”
Household Budgeting: “Generate a monthly budget tracker with categories, conditional formatting, and a donut chart for spending distribution.”
Instead of wrangling formulas yourself, you guide Copilot with a prompt, and it handles everything else from there.
Word: Writing That Feels More Like a Conversation ✍️
Word is where billions of documents are created each month, and now Copilot can work more with you than for you. Agent Mode in Word lets you collaborate on documents by drafting, suggesting edits, and asking clarifying questions - so writing becomes less of a chore and more of an interactive flow.
Example prompts include:
“Update this monthly report with the latest numbers from September and highlight trends compared to August.”
“Polish this project summary for clarity, bold key findings, and add a bullet list of next steps.”
“Reformat this document with branded headers, italics for external partners, and consistent section styling.”
The outcome? Faster iterations, cleaner formatting, and documents that match your intent without hours of manual editing.
