Microsoft Teams
Classic Teams Desktop End of Availability
Starting July 1st, the Classic Teams desktop app will no longer be available. All users are now required to switch to the new Teams experience, regardless of their operating system. This transition aims to provide a more unified and efficient collaboration platform for all users.

File Attachments in External Chats
Microsoft Teams will now support file attachments in external 1:1 and group chats. Although this feature is off by default, it can be easily enabled by admins using the FileSharingInChatsWithExternalUsers policy. This update will facilitate seamless collaboration with external partners and clients.

Discontinuation of Nonprofit Grant Offers
From July 1, 2025, Microsoft 365 Business Premium and Office 365 E1 grants for nonprofits will be retired. Nonprofit organisations must migrate to the Microsoft 365 Business Basic grant or other available nonprofit Microsoft 365 offers. This change is part of Microsoft’s ongoing efforts to streamline its grant offerings and ensure that nonprofits have access to the most suitable solutions.

Microsoft Security Changes
Admin Consent for Third-Party Apps
As part of the Secure Future Initiative, Microsoft is enhancing security by blocking legacy authentication and requiring admin approval for third-party apps by default. This measure is intended to protect users from potential security threats and ensure that only trusted applications have access to their data.
Changes to SharePoint Content Access
Effective July 1, 2025, external users will lose access to SharePoint content shared via One-Time Passcode (OTP) if it was shared prior to the SharePoint/OneDrive integration with Entra B2B. To restore access, the content must be reshared. This update is crucial for maintaining secure and controlled access to shared content.
Microsoft 365 Upcoming Secure by Default Settings Changes
Microsoft 365 is introducing updates to default settings aimed at enhancing organisational security. These measures will block legacy browser authentication methods and require admin approval for third-party app access, ensuring tighter control over applications interacting with company data.
Organisations can expect improved protection against potential security vulnerabilities and threats associated with outdated authentication protocols. Admins will need to oversee and approve third-party app integrations, streamlining access management and fostering a safer digital environment for all users.
